IEEE have just published various papers from the "Energy Aware Computing Systems and Applications" (ICEAC) 4th annual international conference, including one by
Omar Al-Saadoon, Raed Al-Shaikh, MajdiBaddourah, & M. EhteshamHayder of the EXPEC Computer Center, Saudi Aramco entitled "Toward Building Green Computing Environment for Reservoir Simulation" (Ref: http://dx.doi.org/10.1109/ICEAC.2013.6737641). This looks at how PUE various under processor load and thus how the energy footprint of a simulation could be minimised by choosing the load that gives the lowest PUE.
